Waste-to-energy incinerators produce flue gas emissions that contain a variety of gaseous and particulate pollutants, the most concerning of which are dioxins, furans and heavy metals such as mercury. These toxic substances can cause detrimental environmental and health effects and require treatment to meet regulatory requirements.
Powdered activated carbon (PAC) is the most utilized dry sorbent for treating the heavy metal pollutants. Complete PAC injection systems are supplied by Sodimate for dry and semi-wet injection processes from the point of storage to injection of the sorbent. Systems typically include a bulk bag or silo, a mechanical discharger, a screw feeder and a pneumatic conveying system to transfer the PAC to the injection point. For semi-wet processes a slurry tank and skid pumps are also supplied.
