Calcium oxide (CaO), commonly called quicklime or pebble lime is highly reactive chemical created from limestone. Quicklime has a variety of uses in the municipal and industrial water treatment sectors, along with the cement and mining industries. Quicklime is most commonly used for its ability to stabilize pH, soften water, stabilize biosolids, and precipitate nutrients. Sodimate provides complete quicklime handling systems for storage and feeding. A lime slaker can also be supplied to mix the quicklime with water, creating hydration lime Ca(OH)2), also known as slaked lime or lime slurry.
