Sand is a granular powder with particle sizes ranging from 1⁄16 mm to 2 mm. Silocon dioxide (SiO2), commonly called silica, is the most common type of sand used in industrial processes worldwide. Composed of broken down quartz crystals, silica is used for glass manufacturing, production of molds and castings, and concrete production. Sodimate supplies turnkey bulk handling systems for silica which include a storage container (silo, hopper, or super sac), mechanical bin discharger, and screw feeder. Retrofit units can also be applied to existing systems that wish to ease container unloading and improve feed rate volume and accuracy.
